Mapping It Out: Monolithic Domes Cover the World
Map shows our progress
These days when we talk about Our Map in the office, we all know what we’re referring to: A beautiful full color National Geographic world map, mural size, that has been permanently installed in our front reception area. It was a Christmas gift from employees and friends.
We have placed translucent dots where Monolithic Domes have been built. We have used little dots for the United States and big dots everywhere else. In addition to the dots, a few of the locations have a small color photograph of a dome in the area. It is amazing how colorful this map has become.
A wonderful benefit of Our Map is that we can quickly find places when we get phone calls from far away.
The following figures are approximate, but we estimate that there are more than 900 Monolithic Dome homes; 50 churches; 325 storages and commercial buildings; 50+ schools; and more than 500 EcoShells around the world. Monolithic Domes have been built in 49 states and 53 countries. The world now has close to 4,000 Monolithic Domes. The latest is the National Cultural Center in Ankara, Turkey.
