An Engineer’s Aspect: FEMA Funding for Community Tornado Shelters
On Tuesday, February 28, David South and Nanette South Clark, his daughter, met with a group in Branson, Missouri, interested in a FEMA grant for a Monolithic Dome tornado shelter. Once the meetings ended, David and Nan immediately started back to Texas. That was fortunate because a tornado hit the area that night!
In her blog, Nan, a certified engineer who works closely with the Monolithic Dome Institute, points to important information about the growing threat of tornadoes and what communities can do for protection. Her bottom line: There is no reason your community cannot have a safe haven for residents to shelter people from the most violent of storms.
