Cradleboard Elementary Cradleboard Elementary School — Three Monolithic Domes provide interiors with a total of 34,000 square feet. Native American Motif — It adorns the dome walls in every area. Note the curved bench; it’s part of the dome. Typical Classroom — Located in Whiteriver, Arizona, Cradleboard Elementary serves 300 students in grades kindergarten to five. Cafeteria — The cafeteria is part of the multipurpose dome that also includes the gymnasium and an arts/music area. Round Theatre and Commons — Sporting an 8’ diameter skylight, it’s the center core of one of the Monolithic Domes that’s surrounded by classrooms. Windows in each classroom allow natural light in from the skylight. Media Center — The Media Center is the core of the second Monolithic Dome. It also has an 8’ skylight and is surrounded by classrooms. Unique Location — Cradleboard Elementary is on an Apache Reservation, at 7000 feet in Arizona’s high country, nestled among the Ponderosa Pines. Aerial View — In 1998, the community completed three Monolithic Domes with an interconnecting central corridor.
