Update: Bond vote passes for Monolithic Dome school and shelter
Lubbock, Texas area residents set to vote this Saturday on a variety of school bonds. One is for Crosbyton, Texas where a proposed Monolithic Dome for an early elementary school and community safe room is planned. UPDATE: The bond passed.
A main project in Crosbyton’s proposed $10 million bond package is a new building for early elementary. The monolithic, dome-like structure will house students in grades pre-K through 2 and serve as a communitywide storm shelter.
It will also be closer to the cafeteria, which is used for all grade levels. Moving from the current building to lunch, music and physical education classes requires a bit of a hike for the youngsters, Superintendent Shawn Mason said, which can be an issue in bad weather.
